It dates from the years 1800-1807. Its founders were: the administrator Ion Urşanu, Constantin Covrea and Lady Stana. The painters were Dinu and Manole from Craiova, their helpers were Stanciu from Craiova, Dumitraşco and Dumitru, and their apprentices were Ion, Preda from Cioroi and Ioanică from Craiova.
In 1946 was inaugurated the new church, which became the parish church of Horezu. Later, it was abandoned, the only time when it served being once a year, on its dedication day (21st November), the second dedication day being forgotten. In 1992 it became a parish church again, for the Parish Horezu I, both the painting and the roof being restored between the years 1995-1996. It was included on the updated List of Historical Monuments – Order no. 2314 / 2004 of the Ministry of Culture and Cults.
