Saint Stephen’s Hermitage is built beyond the Romani stream, to the west of the precinct of the great church, on the border of a forest. The inscription carved in stone above the entrance door shows that it was built in 1703. The votive painting represents Constantin Brâncoveanu, his wife and their son, Stephen, at his side being painted saint Stephen the New and in front of them the saints Varlaam and Ioasaf. The painting of the hermitage was executed by Ianache, Istrate and Hranite.
