The “Ada Orleanu” Town Library was founded in the year 1949, starting from a book collection based on donations.
Since the year 1989, the library operates within the “Constantin Brâncoveanu” House of Culture, Horezu, and in 1990 it received the name of “Ada Orleanu” (1916 – 1990) – a prose writer and translator born in Romanii de Sus village – Horezu. The library has a book collection of 37,006 volumes, approximately 3,200 of which are written in the French, English and German languages. Every year, the library is visited by more than 1,500 readers.
The library is integrated in the “Biblionet – The World in My Library” programme, a fact that allowed its endowment with the needed logistics, but also a greater opening towards the public.
