Road access to the town of Horezu is gained by several national or European roads of great importance:

  • E 81  European Road (Bucharest – Piteşti – Râmnicu Vâlcea – Sibiu – Sebeş – Cluj Napoca –  Satu Mare – Halmeu / frontier point), one of Romania’s representative European arteries, part of the European road connecting the south-east to the north-west of Europe. From Rm. Vâlcea, the itinerary continues on DN 67, until reaching the town of Horezu.
  • DN 67 National Road (E 81 / Rm. Vâlcea – Horezu – Tg. Jiu / E 79 – Motru – Drobeta Tr. Severin / E 70) is an important road artery connecting three European major roads: E 81 (frontier point RO / UA – Halmeu – Cluj Napoca – Sibiu – Rm. Vâlcea – Piteşti – Bucharest), E 79 (frontier point H / RO – Oradea – Deva – Tg. Jiu – Craiova – Calafat – frontier point RO / BG) and E 70 (BG/RO – Giurgiu – Bucharest – Alexandria – Drobeta Tr. Severin – Caransebeş – Stamora Moraviţa – RO/RS).  
  • DN 65 C National Road (Craiova / E 70 / E 79 / E 574 – Bălceşti – Horezu).
  • DJ 665  County Road (Horezu – Vaideeni – Polovragi – Baia de Fier – Novaci – Curțişoara / DN 66 / E 79) connects all the localities at the foot of the mountains, following an extremely picturesque itinerary, and it joins the Transalpina major road (Novaci – Rânca – Obârşia Lotrului – Sebeş) and the Jiu Valley / E 79.

By road, the locality is situated at 220 km from Bucharest, 111 km from Craiova, the centre of the development region that includes it, 71 km from Târgu Jiu.

The road infrastructure includes:

  • National Roads  (the length of the national roads network on the administrative territory is of 6 km).
  • the locality is crossed by DN 67 (Rm. Vâlcea – Horezu – Tg. Jiu – Motru – Drobeta Tr. Severin)
  • DN 65 C (Horezu – Măldărești – Bălceşti – Craiova)
  • County Roads  (the county roads network is about 6 km long as a whole):
  • DJ 665 (Horezu – Vaideeni – Polovragi – Baia de Fier – Novaci – Curțişoara / DN 66 / E 79) – approximately 3 km long;
  • DJ 669 (From DN 67 – Dealul Ulmului / Horezu – Romanii de Jos – Horezu Monastery) – 2.98 km
  • Commune Roads  (the commune roads network is more than 23 km long as a whole):
  • DC 139 (Horezu from DN 67 – Măldăreşti – 2.400 km);
  • DC 142 (Horezu from DN 67 – Urşani – 5.550 km);
  • DC 143 (Horezu from DN 67 – Olari – Tănăseşti – 5.800 km);
  • DC 144 (Horezu from DN 67 – Râmeşti – Ifrimeşti – 6.385 km);
  • DC 146 (Horezu from DN67 – across Dealul Ulmului – Romanii de Jos in DJ 669 – 2 km);
  • DC 147 (Romanii de Jos from DJ 669 – Neagota, 2 km);
  • DC 147 A (Romanii de Jos from DJ 669 – Romanii de Sus – Vf. lui Roman holiday village – 15 km).
  • Town Street Network  (urban and rural areas) consists of 26 streets with sidewalks, 43 asphalted streets without sidewalks, 15 unasphalted streets and roads, 21 bridges, 10 parking lots or roadway parking space.
